It’s incredible how quite a few household-friendly games you can play with only a handful of dice. Here is my list of the top five family dice games that will not cost you a cent! (If you never have them already, you can buy packs of 5 dice for only a couple of dollars.)
Fifty is an uncomplicated game for young children that can also help them discover to count. Players take turns to throw two dice. If you throw a double 1, double two, double 4 or double five, you score five points. Throwing a double six scores twenty 5 points, but a double 3 sets your score back to zero. Any other throw does not count. The first player to reach fifty points, or more, wins the game.
Knock Out is another easy game for children. Every player chooses a knock-out quantity – either 6, 7, 8, or 9. They then take turns to throw two dice and add the numbers. If the total equals their knock-out number, they are out of the game for the rest of the round. Play continues until only 1 player (the winner) is left. Every person can then play another round, picking a distinct knock-out number if they wish.
Go Figure is a mathematical dice game applying 3 dice. A player chooses a quantity among one and fifteen for the player on their left to perform out out mathematically applying addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with the 3 numbers to attempt to make their chosen quantity. For instance, if they chose the quantity “eight” and their dice throw was 2, four and six, they could have 4 + 6 – two = eight. If Dungeons and Dragons Dice Tray was 1, 3 and five they could have 1 x three + 5 = eight. A player who succeeds scores a single point. That player then chooses a number (1-15) for the player on their left to ‘go figure’. Just after a number of rounds the player with the highest score is the winner.
Centennial is a race game for two to 8 players making use of 3 dice, a board and a counter for every single player. The board consists of thirteen squares in a row, labelled Start, 1, two, 3,…, 10, 11, 12. It could be created of cardboard and decorated nicely or just scribbled on a sheet of paper. Counters could be coins, matchsticks, and so on. as long as each player can determine their counter. All the counters are placed on the Begin square. The 1st player throws the 3 dice. If 1 of them is a “1” they spot their counter on square 1. If there was a “2” (or two “1s”, given that 1 + 1 = 2) they could also move to square two, and so on. Throwing a “1”, “2” and “3” would imply that the player could move up to square 6 (1, two, 3 naturally but 1 + three = 4, two + three = 5 and 1 + 2 + three = six). After a player reaches 12, they then move back down the board. The very first player to get back to square 1 shouts “Centennial!” and wins the game.
